چکیده

mouse embryo. In original 2D ISH sections (a), it is difficult to comprehend the distributions of Lhx8 (blue) and Shh (brown) genes relative to each other and to brain structures. After mapping, coregistered Lhx8 (orange) and Shh (green) expression data are overlaid on the iDW image (b), and inspected in 3D with brain structures e.g. ventricles (blue) to appreciate the spatial expression patterns of the two genes (c). Fig. 1: DTMI of an adult mouse brain at 55 μm resolution. A) iDW and DEC contrasts in a horizontal brain section. B-C) Comparison of anatomical details revealed by DTI at 55 μm (B,C) and 125 μm (B',C') resolutions. DTMI at 55 μm revealed the microstructural organization of white matter fibers in the striatum (white arrows), that were not seen at lower resolutions (right). Scale bars=1mm. Mapping postnatal mouse brain development with diffusion tensor microimaging.

While mouse brain development has been extensively studied using histology, quantitative characterization of morphological changes is still a challenging task. This paper presents how developing brain structures can be quantitatively characterized with magnetic resonance diffusion tensor microimaging coupled with techniques of computational anatomy. High resolution diffusion tensor images of ex...

Three-dimensional anatomical characterization of the developing mouse brain by diffusion tensor microimaging.

Investigation of three-dimensional (3D) morphometry of developing brains has been hindered by a lack of imaging modalities that can monitor the 3D evolution of various anatomical structures without sectioning and staining processes. In this study, we combined magnetic resonance microimaging and diffusion tensor imaging techniques to accomplish such visualization. The application of this approac...

The Benefits and implementations of Diffusion tensor imaging and Neural Fiber Tractography in Brain Surgery

Background and Aim: The methods for detecting brain activation with fMRI, MRI provides a way to measure the anatomical connections which enable lightning-fast communication among neurons that specialize in different kinds of brain functions. Diffusion tensor imaging is able to measure the direction of bundles of the axonal fibers which are all aligned. Besides mapping white matter fiber tracts,...

Study of Tnp1, Tekt1, and Plzf Genes Expression During an in vitro Three-Dimensional Neonatal Male Mice Testis Culture

Background: In vitro spermatogenesis has a long research history beginning in the early 20th century. This organ culture method was therefore abandoned, and alternative cell culture methods were chosen by many researchers. Here, whether Tnp1, Tekt1, and Plzf, which play a crucial role in spermatogenesis, can be expressed during testis organ culture was assessed. Methods: Testes of 10 mouse pups...

An MRI-based atlas and database of the developing mouse brain

The advent of mammalian gene engineering and genetically modified mouse models has led to renewed interest in developing resources for referencing and quantitative analysis of mouse brain anatomy. In this study, we used diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) for quantitative characterization of anatomical phenotypes in the developing mouse brain. As an anatomical reference for neuroscience research usi...
